I sat in a cheap gaming chair for years, and as someone who works all day at a computer, that was a big mistake. My back hurts a lot, and these foam chairs get so hot that… well, you know. sweat. In 2020, I ventured into the world of office chairs and bought a Herman Miller Embody – from trashy chair to iconic, it changed my life. Since then, I have been testing more affordable options so that no one else suffers from the same back pain. There are also some X chairs. good news! Amazon currently has some great Prime Day office chair deals on some of our favorite office chairs.

Branch Verve comes in second on my best office chair guide simply because it’s expensive, but it’s the biggest discount I’ve ever tracked for this chair. It keeps my back straight well, the seat is comfortable and the mesh back traps body heat to keep you cool. It also looks great and is available in a variety of colors (although prices vary by color).
The Verve’s adjustment is so good that you can push the seat forward, lock the tilt, and adjust the lumbar support. The armrest is the only part I don’t really like. You can only move them up or down. However, if you’re on a budget and need a new office chair, Verve won’t disappoint.
This is my top recommendation for an office chair because every part of it is adjustable so you can shape the chair to suit your physical preferences. The ergonomic Branch chair even has armrests that can be moved back and forth or up and down, and the Branch has an extra headrest in case you need it. It doesn’t keep your back upright like the Verve does, and we did notice some pilling in the seat fabric after over a year of use, but it’s hard to find a good office chair at this price.
Got a budget to splurge? Gesture is an iconic office chair that is considered to be one of the best office chairs you can buy. The fabric quality isn’t as good as my Herman Miller Embody, which I still prefer overall, but the Gesture is a comfortable seat with lots of adjustments. You also get a long 12 year warranty. Prices fluctuate widely, but have not been so low for a long time.
If you constantly feel like you’re pinned down in a chair, try the Hon Ignition 2.0 Big and Tall. I am 6ft 4in and I found the seat spacious and comfortable. Its steel frame can hold up to 450 pounds and I’ve sat on it for months without issue. I just wish it looked more interesting and the colors were more fun. When you press the arms, the arms open up.
It’s still a crazy amount of money to spend on a chair, especially one that doesn’t belong to an institution like Herman Miller or Steelcase, but I kid you not, the Brisa Soft Touch seat is one of the most luxurious materials my body has. . ever touched one. As my friend sat on it, his mouth fell open in awe. It’s not as heat-absorbing as other full mesh X chairs (also on sale), but it’s adjustable and comfortable. I recommend using the standard armrest instead of the FS 360 armrest as it is too movable.
